Lacy Johnson Offers Hope to Impoverished Communities

Lacy Johnson, a successful entrepreneur and engineer who’s record of service to his community spans decades, is running to represent Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District. In a recent appearance on The Joe Silverstein Podcast, Mr. Johnson described the importance of charter schools and personal responsibility.  “I come from a poor black background. I never accepted an excuse that because you’re poor and black you can’t perform just as any suburban white kid from a rich neighborhood. I know that’s not true.”

Mr. Johnson’s remarks reveal a sharp contrast between his worldview and that of his opponent, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. While the latter subscribes to a marxist ideology that sees the world as a battleground between identity groups based on ethnicity and class, the former is living proof that regardless of society’s imperfections, one can take accountability for their circumstances and become successful. Johnson recognizes the importance of a free market economy and supports pro growth policies such as lowering taxes and the deregulation of businesses.

Johnson also raised concerns about the United States’ dependence on China for personal protective equipment, prescription drugs, and other essential goods. “We need to look at China for what it is from an economic standpoint – a clear and present danger.” His comments come amid heightened tensions between the two nations over the coronavirus pandemic, Chinese aggression in Hong Kong, and growing cybersecurity concerns.

The election will be held on November 3rd. Although Congresswoman Omar won the fifth district with 78.2% of the popular vote in 2018, Mr. Johnson is undeterred.  “We will shock the world.”
