Student Assembly Forum on Tuesday

The Student Assembly (SA) Elections Committee has announced a candidates’ forum on very short notice in the wake of the one week delay of the elections.

The forum will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in Room B11 of Kimball Hall. The forum will start with candidates for the college SA representatives and work up to the at-large SA representatives and then the positions of SA Vice President and President. Although Luke Thomas, Chair of the Elections Committee, will moderate the early debate, Gabe Levin, Editor-in-Chief of the Cornell Daily Sun will moderate the debates for Vice President and President.

The selection of moderator drew controversy because Levin has personally been directing coverage of the SA deliberations over the alleged ethical misconduct of several current officers, including a person who is currently a candidate for SA President.

In recent years, the voter turnout in SA elections has been very low, and a poorly-publicized candidate forum will likely not help matters.
