Cornell announced that Stephanie Baldwin, who heads the Greek life program at the University of Colorado Boulder, will join the staff on April 1 as the Robert G. Engel Director of Sorority and Fraternity Life.
Cornell University experienced a tumultuous year with events affecting free speech, campus politics, and campus culture. The “Year of Free Expression” saw debates on academic freedom, controversial speakers, and tensions regarding Israel. Additionally, there were developments in Greek life, student unionization, and controversies around sex ed and sports culture.
Beginning this week, fraternities will be able to apply to host social events again, according to an email obtained by the Cornell Review.
Resolution 16 made numerous assertions that were either untrue, unbased, or the subject of debate.
“If a brother of [a] fraternity commits sexual assault, if the brotherhood chooses to remove that person from the [fraternity] because there are processes in place to actively remove someone from the brotherhood, should the fraternity be punished as a whole?”

However, the administration seems to be quickly losing patience with the entire system. Perhaps the day is coming when the Greeks will be sent home.
All told, it was an eventful year at Cornell, with many developments that will prove to have a long-term impact.
