Boston University has posted on its website that it will not accept new Ph.D. candidates for the 2025-26 academic year. The affected programs include American and New England Studies, Anthropology, Classical Studies, English, History, History of Art and Architecture, Linguistics, Philosophy, Political Science, Religion, Romance Studies, and Sociology.

On September 30, Abby Johnson spoke at Cornell at the invitation of the Young America’s Foundation and the Cornell Republicans. Her talk was entitled “Abortion is Murder.” Johnson had worked at an abortion clinic until October 6, 2009.
On October 30, the Cornell Committee on Expressive Activity issued a draft of its Final Report. The campus is asked to submit comments and or to participate in a December 3 town hall meeting.
Famed conservative political commentator and former Editor in Chief of the The Daily Wire, Ben Shapiro spoke on the importance of the upcoming presidential election. The talk, named, “What’s at Stake on November 5th” attracted a total of about 1,300 attendees–filling Bailey Hall, Cornell’s largest auditorium on campus.
On October 7, Eileen Chang ‘21, as well as a Boston University student, filed a class action antitrust case against the College Board, along with 40 top tier universities for price fixing. They claim that in 2006 the College Board and many of its university members decided to consider the assets of non-custodial parents (NCP) when measuring the financial need of applicants whose parents are separated.
