Totally awesome or extremely creepy?

This story appeared on Drudge earlier today, and I really can’t decide whether this female robot companion is a ground-breaking accomplishment of a brilliant mind or the work of a very disturbed individual. The really odd bit is that this guy actually created her with the intention of making a female companion for himself. My question is: at what point will we have to start assigning ‘human rights’ to extremely human androids? Many thought-provoking and philosophical questions emerge.
