Daniel W. Kops Lecture to Address Freedom of the Indigenous Press
On Tuesday, September 10, Kenneth Atsenhaienton Deer, founder and former editor of The Eastern Door newspaper, will deliver the 2024 Daniel W. Kops Freedom of the Press Lecture, Deer’s topic will be “The Eastern Door: A Newspaper Born out of Crisis,” and the talk will begin at 5 p.m. in Lewis Auditorium of Goldwin Smith Hall, Room G76. U.A.W. Votes in Favor of Ending Strike
On September 2, 2024, UAW Local 2300 approved a settlement that ended the dining, maintenance, grounds, and janitorial worker strike that started on August 18.

Terms of UAW Strike Settlement Released
On August 27, the United Auto Workers (UAW), who represents 1,200 dining, grounds, janitorial, and animal care workers, reached a settlement of their strike against Cornell University. Union members will ratify the proposed settlement by a vote held on Sunday September 1 and Monday, Sept 2, with the goal of returning to work on Tuesday, September 3.

Cornell Reaches Tentative Strike Settlement with UAW
On August 28, Cornell and the United Auto Workers (UAW) reached a tentative settlement of their dispute. The agreement will be put to a ratification vote by dining, custodian, grounds and maintenance workers on September 1 and 2 with the goal of resuming work on Tuesday, September 3.
