Charlie Kirk and George Floyd superimposed over “The Spirit of War” by Jasper Francis Cropsey (1851)

Today, Charlie Kirk would have turned 33. Instead, the left continues to celebrate his assassination more than a year after his death. The White House honored Kirk today with the following statement:

“Today, on what would have been his 33rd birthday, our Nation honors the loving memory of Charlie Kirk – a father, husband, Christian martyr, & titan of the conservative movement.

We renew our resolve to always defend our principles of truth, faith, & the open exchange of ideas.”

In all likelihood, we will see a large number of socialists dressed up as a bloodstained Kirk on Halloween (whether they can find a party to wear it to is still unknown).

This brings us to the juxtaposition: Today, George Floyd would have turned 53. His death almost 6 years ago brought massive riots to many cities throughout mainland America.

Civil Rights Attorney Ben Crump wrote this statement for George Floyd today:

“George Floyd should be celebrating his 53rd birthday today. Instead, we honor his memory and the movement for justice his death inspired around the world. George was a gentle giant whose life touched so many. Your life mattered, George. Happy heavenly birthday.”

Whether Floyd died to a fentanyl overdose, fatal compression on his neck, or a combination of the two is outside the scope of this piece. (If one takes a certain position on this, the left believes it is okay to kill you.) It is true that Floyd’s death (no matter the mechanism) was a tragedy, and the riots that came afterward were not his fault — rather, they were pushed by the liberal mass media we have in place in our country, which so often does us wrong.

Tyler Robinson, who is the primary suspect in Kirk’s murder, is still pending trial (which, thankfully, will pursue the death penalty).

On the other hand, Derek Chauvin, who was found guilty of second- and third-degree murder, was stabbed 22 times in prison by a former Mexican gang member and will remain there for approximately another 17 years.

When Floyd died, millions rioted in the streets, destroying property, looting, burning things, and killing people. When Kirk died, people organized prayer vigils and built memorials.

Kirk did nothing wrong—he died a martyr. What Floyd did didn’t deserve death either; whether he lived a moral life is unimportant. Happy birthday to both of these men; only God knows where they are today.
